If your financial aid package didn’t come in as expected, there’s still time and options. Scholarships often have deadlines that you might have missed, but take the time to invest in the research now in preparation for next year — the grant/scholarship world is vast. Then there’s private loans. Contrary to what your financial aid officer might let on, you do indeed have a choice with regard to private loans. Make sure you shop around for the best deal. If your financial aid officer tells you that the loan you secured won’t be accepted, commence going up the ladder with this complaint! And don’t be shy! It’s absolutely ridiculous that your school’s financial aid office can dictate where you obtain your loan from.
